Calling all Ella Enchanted fans!

Title: Ever

Author: Gail Carson Levine

HARDBACK

Amount of Pages: 244

Copyright Year: 2008

Difficulty: Super easy

Reccomended for Ages: 9 and up

Extra Info: The Compulsive Reader also reviewed it!

Summary:

Olus loves Kezi, Kezi loves Olus...

Olus is the Akkan god of the winds. While Kezi is a beautiful mortal of dance and rug making. Falling in love for both of them is easy, but the circumstances are, how should we say this? A little difficult. Kezi is scheduled to be sacraficed to the god Admat is a month's time. Through this month Olus and Kezi discover love and what it really means to be a hero, and how strong love can be.

Wdebo' Review: I like anybook by Gail Carson Levine, she is a really talented author. Though I have to say Ella Enchanted is by far the best. The story of Kezi and Olus is very simple, and I agree with TCR the love is rushed a bit. First they see each other and all of a sudden they're head over heels in love? Eeh? Is life really like that? Anyways, I did enjoy this book a lot, it is geared towards younger readers, but it was still a good find, like all of her books. If you adored Ella Enchanted I would recommend that you read this book, sure the plot and people and lands are different, but all in all it still has Ella's and Gail's spunk and amazing voice in it. 8/10!

Queen of Babble Gets Hitched By: Meg Cabot

Hi, everyone! In remembrence of how I reviewed Queen of Babble (My first ever blog post-and it is like exactly 3 months since that post), I have decided to review the conclusion to this amazing trilogy, Queen of Babble Gets Hitched, in that same form!
Book:

*Spoiler Alert for those who haven't read other books!*

Lizzie Nicholas is baack (wow, saying it like that makes her sound like a serial killer, in all the scary movie they're all like "I'm baack"), for the conclusion to this amazing trilogy.

After Meg Cabot left us with that huge cliffhanger in Queen of Babble in the Big City, with her and Chaz together and Luke proposing to her, we were very angry at her after we turned the cover over hoping to see the secret pages then feeling like we should chuck the book at the wall and write an angry letter to the editor demanding why they let her just end at such a humongo cliffhanger (Well, I felt that). But, I couldn't do any of those things, because it was a library book. So, when Queen of Babble Gets Hitched finally came out I felt like I could feel better.

The story begins after Luke proposes to her and she goes and tells Chaz then it goes way downhill from there. After going back to Luke, all she seems to be able to think about is Chaz. Luke wants a wedding in his parent's chateu, while Lizzie's parents just want it in their backyard. Lizzie's confussion grows more when Luke goes to Paris for the whole Summer, and all she can think about is Chaz, Chaz, Chaz. Will she finally have the perfect wedding to the "perfect" man? Or will there be another man's arm that she'll fall into?

First off, I am a HUGE Meg Cabot fans, I adore her wittiness, which is why I read the Queen of Babble Trilogy in the first place. The story was ok, compared to the other two, but I have to say, it is still a really good book. Still has her charm and stuff.

Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List By: Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

Title: Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List
Author(s): Rachel Cohn and David Levitahn
HARDBACK

Amount of Pages: 230

Difficulty: Easy

Reccomended for Ages: 14 and up

Extra Info: These two awesome authors colaborated for the second time! The first book Nick and Norah's Infinate Playlist, has become a major motion picture, and aparently this book is too! Hayden Pannetiere stars? (If you know anything about it, plz comment!)

Summary: Naomi and Ely have been best friends since ever. Ely is Naomi's gay best friend. Naomi is in-love with Ely, while Ely just loves her like a sister. Then, one day, Ely finds himself locking lips with Naomi's boyfriend Bruce-the-second, and this epic book begins. While fighting with the prospect of being gay (Bruce the second), the hatred of not having a best friend by your side 24/7 (Naomi and Ely), the need to be with Naomi again (Bruce the First), wanting to BE with Naomi (Gabrielle), the desire for Robin/boy (Robin/girl), this book switches points with the most interesting and unforgettable characters you will ever read, and the search for all different types of love.

Wdebo's Review: I actually wished for a sequal to Nick and Norah's Infinate playlist, so when I first picked up the book, I was disappointed that it featured two new characters. But when I actually read it, I was happy that I didn't throw it down and run away from it. This book was funny and sweet, written in the way that only Rachel Cohn and David Levithan could. The two characters really spook to me they were so real and raw, they could have been my friends that I grew up with. I would reccomend this book to everyone, who adores Rachel Cohn and David Levithan (Author of Boy meets Boy-also another good book), so I wish all of you can go out and read this book NOW! 9/10!
Do you want to see the movie Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List? Do you think Hayden will be anygood? For those who've watched Nick and Norah, was it good?

"How did my sister fall through a hole in her life and into some other life below?
I'm not sure how it happened. Sometimes I still have trouble believing that it happened at all."

Summary: 14 year old Elena's life has been turned upside down after finding out her sister, Dora is suffering from depression. Life is bad when Elena sees Dora in the mental ward at their local hospital. When she gets to school, life becomes even worse where no one will talk to her, except for Jimmy Zenk, a guy who wears black everyday and failed ninth grade. He talks to her like they've been best friends since they were in diapers. But, he is a man with a secret, a really big secret, one that could ruin their friendship, or whatever -ship they have.

Wdebo's Review: There is just something about books with depression, no matter who writes them, there is this sort of power in it. I was drawn into this book, when I first began reading it. I really liked it, I would reccomend all of you to read this book, if you or someone you know has depression, or have anything to do with depression or not. I think everyone should read it, it is such a good book, with such a strong message.

Paper Towns By: John Green

Title: Paper Towns
Author: John Green
HARDBACK
Amount of Pages: 305

Difficulty: Easy

Reccomended for Ages: 14 and up

Summary: Quentin Jacobsen has always loved Margo Roth Spiegleman since they were little kids. And now as a band geek and she as the most popular girl in school, there is no way he can get her to look at him, even with their next door neighbor status. But, when Margo comes dressed as a ninja and sneaks into his room late at night, he has to go with her. He is taken on the night of his life, but the next day she is no where to be found, only a string of ambiguous clues could be his chance to finding his "true love".

Wdebo's Review: Told from an amazing first person Quentin just seems like someone you would know and could be total friends with. John Green is hillarious and an outstanding author. I was sucked into this book right when I started, I think everyone should read it, its so funny and hillarious, but there is a sense of intenseness that I just don't know how to describe. My favorite part has to be when Ben gets drunk...

"'NOOO! Boooo. Booo on Quentin. Hey, everybody! Booo Quentin!' And I was booed. 'Everybody's drunk. Ben drunk. Lacey drunk. Radar drunk. Nobody drive. Home by six. Promised Mom. Boo, sleepy Quentin! Yay, Designated Driver! YESSSS!"

Haha, I can read that part forever and still laugh. I'm sure you guys will enjoy this book very much, but the use of honeybunny for girl is not really nice, um I don't wanna b called a honeybunny. I mean eww! 9/10!

Generation Dead By: Daniel Waters

"'Tommy Williams has a poem hanging up in his locker,' she said, 'and it sure looks like it was written in your handwriting.'"

Title: Generation Dead

Author: Daniel Waters

HARDBACK

Amount of Pages: 392

Difficulty: Easy

Reccomended for ages: 13 and up

Extra Info: Books I've read that are similar to this are Skinned and The Adoration of Jenna Fox.

Summary: Phoebe Kendell has never really fit into school, with her goth wardrobe and pale pale skin. Now, with a new phenome Pheobe can fit in just a little more, with teenagers crawling out from their graves, they have now become Zombies, um excuse me, diffrently biotic. They have Oakville High, Phoebe's school. But her classmates don't like them very much, especially Pete, the most popular football player in school, who is especially put off when Tommy Williams, the leader of the differently biotic students, plays on their football team. Let's just say the whole country isn't that happy too. Who a growing sense of attraction to Tommy, Phoebe will do anything to know more about Tommy and be closer to him.

Wdebo's Review: When I saw the cover, I was like "What?" Because there is a blonde-goth-cheerleader, that is just so oxymoronic. So, after reading this book I still don't know who this blonde-goth-cheerleader is because Phoebe is NOT a cheerleader and she does NOT have blonde hair!! But, it was a really good book, Daniel Waters did a good job of forming Phoebe even though she is a girl and he is a guy, but I think Phoebe and all all the other girls are just a tad girly. I liked the whole story, and idea, though lately a lot of people have been writing about the same type of topic, but its ok, I like this story. Though the ending is not my most favorite part, it went by really fast and in the end it just turned into a cliffhanger, which I do not like, especially if there is not a second and third book to it. Though all in all it is REALLY good and I would reccomend it to all of my friends. 9/10!

Do you like all these new books about this subject? For those who have read the story: Who is the girl on the cover??!! Is it that Julie girl?

The Off Season By: Catherine Gilbert Murdock

Title: The Off Season

Author: Catherine Gilberbet Murdock

HARDBACK

Amount of Pages: 277

Difficulty: Easy

Reccomended for ages: 12 and up

Extra Info: Sequal to Dairy Queen and the prequal to Front and Center.

Summary: Yes! D.J. Schwenk is back for junior year, but this time she has to fight alone, with everyone noticing her for the first time, becuase she is the star football player on their team, and her best friend, Amber leaving with her girlfriend, Dale. Though there is still Brian, who she hopes they can have a relationship that is more then friendship. With her little brother running around with Sarah, his chess playing girlfriend, D.J. is having an up the wall year, trying to set everything straight.

Wdebo's Review: I read Dairy Queen when I was in like seventh or eighth grade so, during those 3 years, I have totally forgotten the whole plot of Dairy Queen, but I knew I loved it but had no reason why. (I woke up at 4AM just to finish it). But once I read the first chapter, I remembered why. D.J. is such a funny, down to earth character who is just to believable and REAL, the story is REAL too, I mean she could be my next door neighbor, if I lived on a farm that is. Catherine Murdock is such a good author, her voice is just amazing in this book, though I do have to say it is not as good as Dairy Queen, which I think everyone should read. 7.5/10!

Ladies' Choice

So, I wasn't actually "tagged" but I read Bookluver-Carol's and she said she tagged anyone who hadn't done it yet, so well here I am! Since I am so chinese, and not like my American Born Chinese self, most of my songs are chinese, so I translated them, just to make tiny bit more sense, except most of them don't make ANY sense, lol

3. YOU MUST WRITE THAT SONG NAME DOWN NO MATTER HOW SILLY IT SOUNDS.
4. Put the artist after a dash following the song name.
5. Put any comments in brackets.
6. Tag some lucky people to spread the disease.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

What will you dance to at your wedding?
Teru Teru Momiji-Momiji Shoma (Seeing as this is one of the many cute songs from Momiji Shoma in Fruits Basket and is like less then 1 min, I'm pretty sure I won't dance to it)
What will they play at your funeral?
False Alarm-KT Tunstell (I haven't heard this song b4, so I have no idea what kind of mood my funeral will b)
What is your hobby/interest?

Wdebo's Review: Just to set the record straight, I am totally computer illiterate. So, when I picked up this book I thought I wouldn't like it at all. To make a long story short, I was wrong. It was so amazing and fast paced, I just found Marcus so amazing that he was able to sum up all his courage to fight against what he thought was wrong. I learned so much from this book, it was packed with a bazillion bundles of info for the reader to learn, so it was like fun learning. It was written so well, I felt like I was part of the group and fighting along with them. I wish everyone could read this book! 9.8/10!

The Last Exit to Normal By: Michael Harmon

Title: The Last Exit to Normal

HARDBACK

Amount of Pages: 273

Difficulty: Easy

Reccomended for: Ages 14 and up

"The second he'd said 'I'm gay,' he'd been the one to leave. Let the chips fall where they may. I am who I am. I hadn't set this up, he had. He'd screwed our lives up and once mom was gone, he'd spent three years fobbing me off on other people and expecting them to fix our problems."

Summary: 14 year old Ben Campbell's life was turned upside down when his father "came out"- as in he told his family he was gay. That was the time when his mother walked out on them, not bothering to look back. Three years past, with Ben rebelling more and more, from the punk look to his pot smoking, Ben is going in a downward spiral to rock bottom. Then his dad and Edward, "the boyfriend", decide to take Ben to live with them on Edward's old hometown which just so happens to be in the middle of nowhere. So begins the story of our hero's journey through sorting everything out, from Kim to the angry women he has to live with. And *gasp* will we finally see a guy let out his feelings?

Wdebo's Review: This book was witty and charming. I totally feel in love with Ben's character, on the outside he seems like someone who doesn't care about life and whatever happens to him, but you can totally tell that he is hurt and affected by everything that happens to him. When I was reading the acknowledgments, I thought it was so sweet that he named the main girl, Kimberly, after his wife. (Just a fact) anyways, I would reccomended this book to anyone, I don't think that the refrence to being gay should stop you from reading this book, it is so good, and I think this should be one the list of books you should read before you die.

Wdebo's Review: It wan't my most favorite book, but that doesn't mean it was bad, just not the best book I've ever read. It had an interesting plot. I liked how they talked a lot about other secret societies and the things they did just made me want to go "What?" It had some awkward moments that just make you want to skip over, but all in all it was an averege book. 7/10.

Amount of Pages: 361

Difficulty: Easy, one of those tiny books

Reccomended for: Ages 14 and up

"Lia Kahn is dead.
I am Lia Kahn."
"As last days go, mine sucked."

Summary: Lia Kahn has everything-beauty,great friends, a wealthy family (which equals LOTS of credits), an awesome boyfriend and the best thing in life-running. That was until she died, excuse me "died". Now, as she wakes from her comma, she finds herself not in her own body, but in a plastic version of her own body, a plastic version that will never age, where she'll be seventeen forever. As she pieces together what happens, she is thrown from the hospital to a home where no one wants her. Then she meets Auden, a strange guy, a total outcast, who does not fit into the rich status of all the other sudents. Auden becomes overly fascinated with her and her technology, his curiousity leds him down a very dangerous path, one where there could be no return.

Wdebo's Review: This IS a really good book, I can see why it has lots of readers. Though I am not the biggest fan of the second to last chapter, the ending ended with a cliffhanger(grr I hate cliffhangers!) and made me really want to read the second book and third book. It was a very intense book, I felt so bad for Lia. The writing was great, it made me feel like I was Lia, and all I was thinking was how much it would suck to be her and how thankful I was we didn't have that technology, yet. I think that everyone should read this, its really good! 8/10!
